Tall, blond and handsome has been tailing her for months.

But born a warlock and trained by a demon, Beth Roark isn’t a woman to be put off her game by a pretty face, not even when he almost catches her on her last job, the last job, the one that will fund her retirement from a life of crime. One soul-stealing kiss and she’s gone, but he’s not that easy to get rid of. And neither are the bully-boy wolves who first hired her to steal for them and now want her head on a platter.

She’s mysterious, beautiful and a professional thief.

Werelion Alex Sullivan is the best at what he does, tracking people who don’t want to be found, but even with his skills, bringing in infamous antiquities thief ‘The Cat’ is proving to be somewhat difficult. She’s as good at not being caught as he is at catching people. When he gets the drop on her, he realizes why. She’s a magic user. And his mate. Just one problem, the people who own the artefact she just stole want it back… and her dead.

He needs to find her before they do, or risk losing his mate before he can make her his…

Mina Carter writes an engaging and entertaining paranormal romance about shifters, warlocks and fated mates.

I think I read this book at the right time. I had recently finished a whole bunch of contemporary romances and I was getting rather worn down by the drama and the angst. I needed a change of pace and this was perfect.

This was a fabulously fun read. It contained all the elements of paranormal romance I enjoy. Shifters, magic and mates.

Beth is a magic user and a professional thief. Her latest heist puts her in the cross hairs of some very nasty people who want her dead. In the middle of fighting for her life, she happens across Sully, her rather alpha, rather delicious mate.

I liked Beth. She's strong, gutsy and a survivor. She's survived a lot of hurt in her life and has spent most of her life hiding, from the people who originally tried to kill her, from the world and even from the authorities who frown upon her chosen profession. All of that could have made her rather bitter and twisted but instead she had a few people whom she loved and cared about, and in the face of true adversity, she learned being lonely and protecting yourself is not as bad as losing the ones you love. I'm glad she embraced the realization and allowed herself to care and love.

As for Sully, well hello, hot alpha lion shifter male. Can you say yummo? Big, strong, handsome, protective, determined to claim his mate. There's something about a fated mate which works for me. Finding the one person in the world who completes you, then claiming said person and be tied to that person for all eternity? Yeah, Sully can do all the claiming he wants. I'm glad Beth didn't put up much of a fight.

Really enjoyed this story from Mina Carter but then I've always been a fan of her work. Think I'll go read the story before this of Hale, Beth's cousin, now.

About the author

auMina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...

(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)
